I started my practice nearly 20 years ago, offering my clients first-hand experience with commercial and technical operations at substantial savings over big law firms.  As a general counsel, I was responsible for all legal aspects of my employers’ businesses, including advancing business plans and managing successful exit strategies through mergers and acquisitions.  What was unique was that I approached my work through the lens of an engineer entrenched in delivering complex energy projects in my prior career.  Such complimentary skills allow me to understand my clients’ actual business needs, distinguishing me from many business lawyers.  Corporate law also introduced me to specialty trusts for business applications and eventually estate planning.  The sections that follow include the backstory on my introduction to estates, which I hope you find interesting.
